You Are Not as Alone on This Journey as You Think and Here Is the Proof
Let me start with something that has been on my mind lately.
I sometimes wonder about the ancient Sumerians of Mesopotamia and how they invented the calendar. The days, the months, the years. They gave names to time itself. And ever since, human beings have lived with the constant, unavoidable awareness that time is passing. That with every tick of the clock, we are one second closer to the end.
Could we not just live without that reminder?
But here is the thing. That awareness, uncomfortable as it is, might be one of the most powerful tools we have.
I am a genuine believer in the philosophy of Memento Mori, the practice of regularly reflecting on one’s mortality. Not in a morbid or paralyzing way. In a clarifying one.
Ask yourself this question honestly, even just once today: what if I die today?
That question has a remarkable ability to cut through the noise. It helps you set real priorities. It helps you say no to things that do not matter. And it helps you embrace each passing moment with far more intention than you would otherwise. Because when time feels genuinely limited, you stop wasting it on things that do not move you forward.
So, before we get into the practical stuff today: Memento Mori, my friend. Remember that time is moving. Use it well.
How Have You Been?
I will be honest with you. Last month was genuinely productive for me but I only managed to read two chapters of a book. Two. I am not proud of it but I am sharing it because I want you to know that everyone, even the people writing these letters, has months where life gets in the way of the ideal version of things. This month I am switching to eBooks and seeing if that helps. I will report back.
But more importantly: how have you been? How is the tech journey going?
I know it can be exhausting. The applications that go nowhere. The rejections that arrive without explanation. The concepts that just will not click no matter how many times you revisit them. The days where the whole thing feels pointless and you genuinely wonder whether this path is for you.
You are not alone in any of that. Not even close.
Every single person who has successfully broken into tech has sat exactly where you are sitting right now. The only difference between those who made it and those who did not is that the ones who made it kept going. Through the confusion, through the rejection, through the moments of serious self-doubt.
