Making Sacrifices for the Life you Want

Making Sacrifices - ET the Hip Hop Preacher

In the early hours of each day, I have a ritual of listening to Eric Thomas or other speakers talk before I start the day. This talk set my head straight to go after the day. That’s if I am not listening to affirmations or a soothing podcast.

It all depends on how I want to start the day. Some days Duolingo is my buddy.

Alright, back to Eric Thomas.

If you are familiar with the story of “ET the Hip Hop Preacher,” you will know he came from absolutely nothing to become one of the most sought-after motivational speakers in the world.

He was a high school dropout, he was very stubborn as a kid, and his mum had to drag him to one school after another just to make sure he finished his education.

He had a lot of reasons to throw in the towel, he had a lot of things that weren’t in his favour. His father left him.

Born in Chicago in 1970, Eric Thomas faced a difficult childhood. At the age of 16, he dropped out of high school and found himself homeless on the streets of Detroit. Struggling to survive, he lived in abandoned buildings and ate food from trash cans. Despite these harsh circumstances, Eric Thomas never lost sight of his dreams and aspirations.

One day, while at a homeless shelter, Thomas had a pivotal moment of realization. He came across a book that motivated him to change his life. Inspired by the words he read, he decided to turn his life around and pursue education and personal growth. He eventually earned his GED and went on to attend Oakwood University and then Michigan State University.

Eric Thomas went on to complete a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, and a PhD in education. His personal experiences of overcoming adversity and his dedication to education deeply influenced his career path as a motivational speaker. He began sharing his story and motivational messages with audiences around the world.

Eric said the reason you are broke is that you are being lazy watching TV and you are still getting food to eat. That’s why you are still lazy. You are still getting a result even after giving each day your average.

The reason why they take your spot easily, the reason why they can easily beat you is simply because you chose to be average.

You chose to be lazy.

The truth is we all have that excuse, we have someone to blame for why we are where we are now, but deep down you know there is no one holding you back except you.

We hold on to past errors made by our parents or anyone just to justify why we are still stuck at our current stage. You are an adult now, old enough to change things and chart your own course.

You need to wake up from slumber. Be obsessed with succeeding. That’s the way to win at life.

Make sacrifices. You know the exact sacrifice you need to make for the next phase of your life.

I am rooting for you!
