Death is a topic we all like to shun.
We all see it as something evil.
A taboo.
We don’t like to see it as something inevitable.
We feel talking about it only brings it closer.
It’s closer than we think.
It can be today, tomorrow, right now or next week.
Not knowing when it will happen should be the main reason to set our house in order.
Every night before I go to bed I ask myself a simple question.
“What if I die tonight?”
It brings my mind to the present. What could I have done better today?
Who do I need to make peace with?
Do I need to write in my journal today?
Do I need to create something that my family can read about me?
How will my family access all my money and assets?
Is there something that will be lost forever if I don’t share it with someone?
How about my work?
Asking the first question will open many other questions you need to ask yourself.
Make it a habit. Remember you will die.
You’ve read the quote “Live as though today is your last day because it could be your last day.” But, you’ve never taken into account what it means.
It simply means prepare as though you might leave today, and do what’s needed to be done.
Death is an assurance. We all can’t escape it.
All we can do is set things right, so when it comes; we are prepared.
The truth is there is no amount of preparation we can make that will be adequate.
You can only do the ones you can.
Others pick their graveyard before they die. Others pick their coffin.
Others write a book. Some make a video for the family.
What are the things you want to do if you are dying today?
Now is the time to do them.
You might be dying today.
