How to hide your anxiety in an interview
The interview room does not have to be a battlefield. But for most people, that is exactly what it feels like.
One moment you feel like you have everything under control. You know your stuff, you have prepared your answers, you are ready. And then the next moment, something shifts. A quiet voice creeps in and starts telling you that you are not good enough, not smart enough, not experienced enough. That someone else in that waiting room deserves the job more than you do.
That feeling has a name. It is a lack of self-confidence. And it has ended more careers than incompetence ever has.
Here is something that might surprise you though. The most polished, most prepared, most experienced candidates still feel it. Anxiety does not check your qualifications before showing up. It does not care how many times you rehearsed your answers or how perfect your resume looks. At some point, in some room, it will find you.
The real skill is not eliminating the fear. It is learning how to carry it without letting it show.
One simple thing you can do is this. Before you walk into that room, close your eyes. Take a breath. Picture exactly why you are there and exactly what success looks like on the other side of that interview. Let that image be louder than the fear. Write words of courage down if you have to and read them out loud before you go in. It sounds simple because it is, and it works.
But managing interview anxiety goes deeper than a few breathing exercises. It is about understanding how to present yourself with authority even when your heart is racing. It is about knowing what to do with your hands, how to control your voice, how to answer difficult questions without freezing, and how to walk out of that room having left a lasting impression.
That is exactly what we work on inside our Career2Founder Program. You will learn from people who have sat on both sides of the interview table and know exactly what hiring managers are looking for. We will help you transform your anxiety from something that holds you back into something that sharpens your focus.
It is completely normal to feel afraid. But losing the opportunity because of it is something we will not allow on our watch.
