On Fear, Consistency, and Building a System That Actually Works for You

Hello, friend. It has been few days since we last sat down together like this and honestly, I have missed it.

When I talk about sharing thoughts here, I do not mean just any thoughts. I mean selected, intentional thoughts designed to provoke your mind into doing something it would not otherwise do. Something a little uncomfortable. Something a little unusual. Something that moves you forward.

I believe in one percent effort. I believe in doing a little more each day than you did the day before. I believe deeply in progress and in the process that makes progress possible.

So let us get into it.

The Fear That Is Stopping You Right Now

Here is something I have noticed about most of us, myself included: we are far more afraid of things that have not happened yet than of the reality directly in front of us.

You are scared of what is coming. Of what might go wrong. Of how things might turn out. And that fear of the future keeps you frozen in the present, unable to do the very things that would actually improve what is ahead.

But here is the truth: worrying does not change what is coming. It only steals the time and energy you could be using to prepare for it, shape it, or make peace with it.

Taking action, even a tiny and imperfect action, is always worth more than the most elaborate worry. So, start. Start now. Start small. But start.

Start living while you are still alive.

Define Your Own Consistency

One of my commitments this year has been to show up consistently across Instagram, LinkedIn, this newsletter, TikTok, and Medium. And I have made meaningful progress on that, not by trying to do everything at maximum intensity all at once, but by defining what consistency actually looks like for me.

I write this newsletter once a month. That is it. One letter, once a month. That rhythm gives me enough breathing room to show up fully when I do sit down to write, without feeling overwhelmed or burnt out by the pressure of constant output.

I built a system that works for my life. And that is exactly what I want you to do for yourself.

The biggest mistake most people make when trying to build new habits or routines is copying someone else’s system without asking whether it actually fits their own life, energy, and responsibilities. A system that works is one that you will actually follow. And the way to find that system is to know your strengths, focus on what genuinely matters, and design around your real life rather than an idealized version of it.

Consistency does not have to mean daily. It can mean twice a week. It can mean once a month. It can even mean once a quarter, if that is what you can genuinely sustain and build on over time.

Define yours. Then commit to it without apology.

From the Road: Ijebu Ode, Ogun State

On the travel front, I recently visited the ancient land of Ijebu Ode in Ogun State, and it was something special.

I attended the JCI Nigeria Collegiate Conference alongside two friends and we stayed for three nights. If you have not come across JCI before, it is an organization worth looking into seriously. Active membership opens doors to real and meaningful opportunities including travel, networking with driven and like-minded people, personal development, and the chance to contribute to something larger than yourself.

Ask around your school or community about JCI chapters near you. Become a member. Do not sit on the sidelines of the next generation of leaders.

My stay was fun, insightful, and genuinely restorative. And I am already looking forward to visiting two or three more states in the coming weeks. More stories incoming.

A Fun Fact You Did Not Ask For

For more than five years of my life, I learned how to fix generators and motorcycles. And I became genuinely good at it.

This is not a joke. I will leave the rest to your imagination.

Music for Your Ears

Before I go, I want to leave you with something for your playlist.

I recently discovered Benson Boone through Shola Haastrup and I have not been able to stop listening. If you enjoy artists like Isak Danielson, this one will speak directly to your soul.

Go find him. Thank me later.

If you want to talk about life, tech, business, or you simply want to say hello, come find me on Twitter. The conversation is always open.

And if someone in your life needs to read this, do not keep it to yourself. Share it with them. That is how we grow together.

Talk soon, friend.
